Nest learning thermostats speak 24V. Plenty of Dubai homes do not. Many apartments run a ductless split AC with an infrared remote and no thermostat wire at all. Other buildings use fan coil units, and some of those thermostats operate at 230V. A 24V thermostat must never be connected to a 230V line.
